Bosch Rexroth Indramat supplies the KDA 2.1-050-3-LPS-W1 spindle drive as part of its KDA Spindle Drives series. The unit converts a regulated DC link into variable three-phase power for high-speed machine tool spindles, allowing tight speed and torque control in automated machining centers and similar motion systems. When integrated with CNC or PLC controls, the drive lets the machine adjust spindle behavior electronically to match changing cutting conditions. This reduces the need for mechanical speed changers and helps maintain consistent spindle response during drilling, milling, and contouring operations.
The power section operates from a DC link of 300 VDC, and its output stage can deliver a continuous motor current of 50 A, enabling rapid acceleration of large-inertia spindle assemblies. An internal auxiliary supply feeds the heatsink blower from 220 V/50–60 Hz, which supports stable operation during long cutting cycles and repeated speed changes.
