Product Description:
The KDA 2.1-050-3-DYI-U1 is an intelligent component of Bosch Rexroth Indramat’s AC spindle drive for three-phase servo motors. Specifically, it is developed and produced to support asynchronous servo machines with a nominal power output of up to 25 horsepower and a speed range of up to 8000 rpm. Unlike other servo drives, Rexroth’s AC spindle drive system offers unrestricted four-quadrant operation. In the context of servo machines and motors, four-quadrant operation indicates the ability to draw or supply current to the motor in both positive and negative voltages. Essentially, this electrical module provides the three-phase power supply required by the motor.
To operate properly, the KDA 2.1-050-3-DYI-U1 must be connected to the KDV power supply. The KDV power supply converts the typical socket AC voltage into a steady DC bus voltage. During operation, the KDA asynchronous drive module uses the DC bus voltage provided by the KDV to generate a rotating three-phase power as required by the AC spindle motor. Aside from providing the power supply, the KDA 2.1-050-3-DYI-U1 also handles the command signals from the CDM module to vary the motor’s phase and operation. The CDM, also called the Computer Drive Module, performs all the necessary computations and logical decisions based on feedback signals received from the AC motor.
During nominal operation, the KDA 2.1-050-3-DYI-U1 provides a rated current of 50 amperes. Like other KDA drives manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat, this AC module requires a nominal DC bus voltage of 300 V. Furthermore, this spindle drive module employs a digital 16-bit parallel speed command value. With this type of command value, the KDA 2.1-050-3-DYI-U1 supports an incremental encoder output to monitor changes in the motor shaft’s position or speed.
