The HVE02.2-W018N belongs to the HVE Power Supply Units series produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. Classified as a DC-bus power supply, it feeds and controls the shared intermediate circuit for multiple drive controllers in an industrial automation rack. By absorbing regenerated energy and supplying auxiliary control voltage, the unit keeps bus conditions stable so servo amplifiers can perform coordinated motion without power disruptions.

Design version 2 within the 02 series has no additional mechanical options, yet its performance figures are significant. The supply can deliver a rated power of 18 kW to the DC bus while drawing only 500 VA of mains input at full load. Internal thermal dissipation begins with 125 W of basic loss and rises to a total of 250 W when the continuous output is saturated. Heat is removed by a cooling system that uses internal air with a built-in blower, so external ducting is unnecessary. For control electronics the unit furnishes 300 W of regulated auxiliary voltage. Energy that must be dumped during braking is handled by a bleeder assembly capable of 1 kW of continuous power, and loss scaling remains low at 7 W for every kilowatt fed into the bus.

Peak operating limits complement those continuous ratings. The bleeder circuit withstands 100 kW of short-term power, and the DC link can absorb 70 kWs of regenerated energy without triggering an over-voltage fault. Performance is maintained up to the standard 1000 m installation altitude; derating begins above that height. Service is allowed at ambient temperatures to 55 °C, with relative humidity permitted to 95 % or an absolute value of 25 g/m³. Protection is limited to IP10, so the unit must be mounted inside a closed enclosure. Final mass is 13 kg, keeping panel loading low while still housing the blower and power electronics.
