As a three-phase line reactor, it is installed between the facility supply and an inverter or regenerative converter to limit current peaks and reduce harmonic distortion on automation power buses. By adding inductance ahead of the power electronics, the component helps moderate steep current changes that can place extra stress on rectifier sections and upstream protective devices. In regenerative drive systems, this role is especially useful when decelerating axes return energy toward the line and the mains interface must remain stable.
