Product Description:
The HLT01.1A-400K-N-010-NNNN braking module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the HLT Braking Units series. It is designed to absorb and dissipate surplus energy from DC bus lines in multi-axis drive systems, protecting inverters and motors from overvoltage during rapid deceleration or load reversals. Used in machine tools, presses, and material-handling cells, the unit converts returned electrical energy into heat through external resistors, helping maintain stable bus voltage during regenerative events.
It delivers a continuous braking capacity of 400 kW, meaning it can absorb that power level continuously when the connected drives run at full regenerative current. The housing requires forced airflow of 600 m³/h to keep the device temperature within limits. For intermittent events, it can process 750 kW/5%; 550 kW/15%; 440 kW/50% depending on duty cycle, allowing brief or moderate stops without exceeding resistor ratings. The minimum external resistor is 0.7 Ω, because lower values would draw too much current. DC bus links must be installed with a maximum spacing of 10 mm to limit inductance and support even current distribution.
Short-duration braking events are governed by the stated duty-cycle limits, so regenerative peaks must remain within the allowed on-time. When the module operates at its nominal input current, the internal electronics dissipate 1050 W, so cabinet ventilation must account for this baseline heat. The steel enclosure weighs 70 kg, which affects mounting on panels that may allow a maximum gap of 1 m between attachment points and the specified 110 ± 5 mm offset. Electrical connections use an M12 threaded power terminal that is tightened to 41 Nm to preserve contact integrity under vibration. Secure panel support and proper terminal tightening are required because the module converts returned electrical energy into heat during braking.
