Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the HLR01.1N-12K5-N05R5-A-007-NNNN, a brake resistor module in the HLR Brake Resistors series. The device is installed across the DC link of frequency converters or servo drives to dissipate regenerative energy during fast stops or overruns. By routing excess current through a dedicated resistor bank, it limits bus voltage rise and protects power electronics in conveyor sections, gantry axes, or tool spindles that require controlled deceleration. This arrangement helps the connected drive remain within a safe DC-bus range when a motor feeds energy back during braking.

The resistor bank can absorb a continuous braking load of 12.5 kW, which gives the module enough thermal capacity for frequent deceleration cycles. Its resistance value is 6 Ω, which sets the current flow for a given bus voltage and the heat generated in the housing. A single-event capacity of 900 kWs states how much energy the assembly can convert during one stop before a cooling period is needed. The permissible duty window is limited to 8.3 s at nominal load, so the connected drive must remain within that interval to avoid thermal stress. With a mass of 33 kg, the unit has enough thermal inertia to spread heat across its finned surfaces while remaining suitable for cabinet mounting.

Its physical envelope is 490 mm deep, 270 mm high, and 800 mm wide, allowing placement on the rear wall of many automation enclosures while preserving clearance for airflow channels. These dimensions also help maintain practical cable bend routing when the resistor is installed beside the drive stack. The sheet-metal body and ceramic elements are arranged for convective cooling, which helps keep the resistance value stable during repeated thermal cycles. The wide housing also spreads heat over a larger surface area, supporting free-air cooling inside the enclosure.
