Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the HLR01.1N-08K5-N08R0-A-007-NNNN brake resistor as a member of the HLR Brake Resistors series. This component connects across the DC bus of an IndraDrive power section and converts surplus regenerative energy from the motor into heat, helping prevent overvoltage conditions in servo systems and variable-speed drives. By providing a controlled dissipative load, the resistor helps stabilize the DC link during rapid deceleration, downward motion of lifted masses, and other operating events that return energy to the drive.

The resistor has a continuous braking capability of 8.5 kW, which is the amount of power it can dissipate on an ongoing basis without exceeding its temperature limit. The wire-wound network has a resistance of 9 Ω, so the current draw and heat generation remain matched to the DC-link voltage applied across the unit. For short duty peaks, the resistor can tolerate a maximum dissipation of 75 kW, giving additional margin during emergency stops or high-inertia deceleration. During such peaks, the permissible on-time is 8.2 s, after which a cooldown period is required to protect the enamel insulation and housing seals. Across one peak event, the thermal mass can absorb 612 kWs of energy before it reaches its limit.

The aluminum enclosure is sized for panel mounting and uses a broad rectangular form suited to cabinet layouts that place braking components beside the drive section. It stands 270 mm high, spans 600 mm across, and extends 490 mm deep, allowing placement alongside drive modules while preserving airflow around the housing. A finned surface promotes convection so internal temperatures stay within limits even in compact cabinets. The unit has a mass of 22 kg, which supports stable mounting and manageable handling during installation.
