The HLR01.1N-0780-N07R0-A-007-NPNN brake resistor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the HLR Brake Resistors series. The device connects to the intermediate circuit of a Rexroth drive package and converts returning mechanical energy into controlled thermal loads. This conversion prevents overvoltage trips during rapid deceleration and enables drives to brake heavy loads without relying on mechanical friction elements, making the module a standard accessory in conveyor lines, test rigs, and general motion-control installations.

Its continuous thermal rating is 0.78 kW when ambient temperature remains below 40 °C, and within this range the housing can dissipate heat continuously. For short events, the resistor can absorb up to 88 kW at 850 Vdc, but the working window is limited to a 1 s maximum duty cycle to avoid excessive coil temperature. Electrical loading is based on a nominal impedance of 7.0 Ω, so a braking chopper will see roughly 121 A when full DC link voltage is applied. Power leads accept a cross-section of 25 mm², supporting that transient current without undue conductor heating, and the enclosure meets IP20 for safe panel mounting inside a ventilated cabinet. The depth of 210 mm keeps clearance modest while still providing enough surface area for convection.

It can accept 93 kWs of regenerative energy per braking event, and a thermal time constant of 780 s lets the housing cool gradually between loads. A minimum cycle interval of 120 s is required to prevent cumulative overheating. As temperature increases, the impedance climbs to 8.2 Ω, automatically trimming current during prolonged stops. Mounting is handled through an M6 thread, and the rectangular body measures 300 mm in height by 223 mm in width to fit standard drive cabinets. At a mass of 5.5 kg, the resistor adds little structural load, so it can be fixed to light-gauge plates without additional bracing.
