Positioned between the rectifier and the inverters, the unit accumulates charge so that sudden regenerative pulses are absorbed and the intermediate circuit maintains a steady potential. This function reduces stress on upstream supply components and allows connected servo or spindle drives to ride through short input disturbances without shutting down.
The module is cooled by natural convection, so heat leaves the housing without fans or liquid circuits and cabinet layouts remain simpler. Its DC link is rated for DC 700 V, so the aluminum electrolytic bank is suited for drives that operate around this voltage.
