The HLC capacitor modules are DC-bus capacitance add-ons used to improve the energy balance in applications with rapid, repetitive motion cycles such as roll feeds and cross-cutting lines.
Connected directly to the DC bus, the module temporarily stores energy and reduces control-cabinet heat by taking load off the braking resistor during frequent deceleration events. If the mains supply fails, the stored energy can support a controlled retraction motion to help protect the workpiece and tooling, such as in gear cutting applications. The series includes multiple capacity variants—1, 2.4, and 5—each with a defined power dissipation rating (12, 24, and 13 respectively, depending on the model). Physical formats differ by variant, including a 50 mm-wide housing in the smaller versions and a wider 75 mm housing in the higher-capacity version, with corresponding increases in height, depth, and weight.
