Product Description:
The HDS02.2-W040N-HS41-01-FW is a drive controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and supplied within the HDS Drive Controllers series. It is intended for use in multi-axis DIAX04 assemblies where it actuates servo and spindle drives, handling closed-loop speed and torque tasks that are common in machining centers, printing lines, and material-handling cells. The unit converts DC-bus power into regulated motor current so coordinated axes can respond accurately to motion commands. It is suited to cabinets where multiple drive components operate within the same system.
This controller exchanges setpoint and status data over a fiber-optic SERCOS ring, allowing deterministic communication with higher-level PLCs. The power section is dimensioned for a continuous output of 40 A, so connected motors must stay within that current range to prevent overloading the drive stage. The unit operates in ambient temperatures from +5 ... +45 °C, and internal heat is removed by a built-in air blower that pulls cabinet air through the heat sink without requiring an external fan unit. The housing has IP 10 protection, so it blocks large solid objects but still requires additional enclosure protection in dusty or humid areas.
The unit can be installed at elevations up to 1000 m above sea level without derating. Continuous operation is also possible up to +55 °C when output is reduced, and storage or transport temperatures from -30 ... +85 °C help protect the electronics during non-operating conditions. Windings and internal wiring use insulation class C according to DIN VDE 0110, which provides increased thermal endurance. Reduced air density at higher elevations can limit cooling, so applications above the stated altitude need additional consideration. The product is part of Line 02 and uses Version 2 hardware.
