The HDS02.2-W040N-HS24-01-FW is a drive controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and assigned to the HDS Drive Controllers series. Within a multi-axis DIAX04 platform, it regulates power modules and servo modules so that coordinated motion can be run from a central CNC or PLC. By converting high-power DC bus energy into finely metered phase currents, the unit governs motor speed, torque, and position in automated machining centers, handling robots, and packaging stations.

For cyclic command exchange, it relies on the SERCOS fiber-optic interface, allowing deterministic timing across the DIAX04 loop. This supports synchronized command updates during coordinated multi-axis motion. The power channel supports a continuous output of 40 A, which sets the limit for connected motor sizing and for supply cable and fuse selection. Thermal removal is handled by a built-in air blower, and the integral fan moves cabinet air across the heat sinks so no external ducting is required. Enclosure protection is rated at IP 10 in accordance with DIN 40 050, meaning fingers and similarly sized objects are prevented from entering. The housing is therefore intended for installation inside a protected control cabinet. Operation is permitted in ambient temperatures from +5 to +45 °C without current derating, and the controller belongs to Line 02 and is Version 2.

If the surrounding temperature rises above nominal, the drive can still run, but current is gradually reduced after +55 °C is reached. During storage, it withstands temperatures from -30 to +85 °C, so climate-controlled storage is not required. This storage range helps protect the unit during transport and idle periods between installation stages. Installations located up to 1000 m above sea level need no altitude correction. The windings and internal wiring use insulation class C in accordance with DIN VDE 0110.
