The HDS02.2-W040N-HS12-01-NW is a modular drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the HDS Drive Controllers series. Installed with other DIAX04 motion modules, it forms part of a multi-axis platform that converts digital motion commands into regulated motor currents. The controller maintains precise speed and torque loops in automation cells such as handling robots, packaging stations, and machining centers.
For command exchange, the unit uses the SERCOS optical interface, providing deterministic communication with higher-level PLCs. During operation, it can supply a continuous motor phase current of 40 A, so the connected axis can accelerate quickly without exceeding drive limits. Heat produced by the power electronics is removed through a built-in air blower, eliminating the need for external ducting and helping keep cabinet layouts compact. The housing is classified as IP 10, which indicates basic finger-safe protection when mounted inside an electrical enclosure. Reliable operation is maintained within an ambient temperature range of +5 ... +45 °C; outside this range, derating or shutdown is required.
The drive is Version 2 and Line 02 within the DIAX04 family, and it is specified for installation heights up to 1000 m above sea level without performance adjustment. The unit can be stored or shipped at temperatures between −30 ... +85 °C, allowing it to withstand unconditioned warehouse conditions. In intermittent service, the allowable cabinet temperature can rise to +55 °C when current is reduced according to the characteristic curve. Windings and internal insulation follow class C as per DIN VDE 0110, supporting higher thermal limits than class F materials under cyclic loads.
