It serves as the command and power interface between a machine-level controller and multiple servo drives. In this role, it links motion commands from the control system with the electrical output needed at the axis level. It converts network instructions into regulated motor currents so that automated axes achieve precise position, speed, and torque profiles in packaging lines, material-handling cells, and machine tools.

Command traffic is exchanged through the SERCOS fiber-optic ring, giving deterministic cycle times for motion data. Inside the DIAX04 rack, this module is part of Line 02 and Version 2, and it aligns mechanically and electrically with adjacent units. The power section supplies a continuous 40 A of output current, which is the maximum steady current that the semiconductor switches and conductors can carry without thermal stress. Internal heat is removed by a built-in air blower, eliminating the need for external ducting and keeping component temperatures within design margins. When the unit is stored or shipped unpowered, it withstands temperatures from -30 to +85 °C, preventing insulation class C materials from deteriorating during logistics.
