Product Description:
The HDS02.2-W040N-HS09-01-FW is an HDS drive controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the HDS Drive Controllers series. It is intended to drive a single axis within DIAX multi-axis motion platforms, converting position, velocity, and torque commands from a higher-level motion processor into regulated motor current. As a rack-mount power section, it mates with a corresponding supply unit and shares a common DC bus to simplify cabinet wiring in automated machining, packaging, and material-handling systems.
The controller exchanges real-time setpoints and diagnostics over the SERCOS fiber-optic interface, so synchronous motion can be coordinated with neighboring axes through a deterministic bus cycle. Its power electronics are rated for 40 A continuous output, supplying sufficient current to medium-frame servomotors without thermal overload. Thermal management is provided by a built-in air blower that pulls air through the heat sink fins and vents it toward the top of the rack. The unit remains fully rated within an ambient temperature range of +5 to +45 °C. Physical shielding is limited to IP10 per DIN 40 050, so it provides finger-safe protection and must be installed inside a closed electrical cabinet.
The drive can be installed up to 1000 m altitude before additional derating is required, because higher elevations reduce air density and limit cooling performance. When cabinet temperatures approach +55 °C, the controller automatically scales current to protect the semiconductors. For storage, sealed components tolerate temperatures from -30 to +85 °C, allowing transport and warehousing in unconditioned spaces. Compatibility with the DIAX04 controller family comes from its line 02, version 2 design, and its wiring follows insulation class C guidelines under DIN VDE 0110 to withstand elevated temperatures.
