The HDS02.1-W040N-HS23-01-FW drive controller is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the HDS Drive Controllers series. Acting as the central energy and command module between the DC bus supply and multiple servo axes, it translates network commands into regulated motor currents so that packaging lines, machine tools, and material-handling stations can achieve coordinated motion profiles. It occupies one slot in a modular rack and supplies drive-enable signals while returning diagnostic feedback to higher-level control systems. Its modular format allows it to be combined with companion supply and axis modules in the same rack, which centralizes power distribution and control functions.
Communication with the motion master is carried over the fiber-optic SERCOS interface, allowing deterministic update cycles and standardized parameter access. Within the modular DIAX04 family, this model is part of line 02 and released as Version 1. Thermal management is provided by a built-in air blower that draws cabinet air across the heat sink, and the power section delivers a continuous current of 40 A. The housing is classified IP10, preventing unintentional contact with energized parts while remaining open enough for the required airflow. Proper operation is specified for ambient temperatures between +5 and +45 °C, and the insulation system is rated class C under DIN VDE 0110 to tolerate the elevated temperatures produced by high switching frequencies.
When installed at heights up to 1000 m above sea level, the controller runs at full rating. Beyond that altitude, current derating applies and the maximum operating limit shifts to +55 °C.
