Product Description:
The HDS02.02-W040N-HS32-01-FW is a drive controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the HDS Drive Controllers series. Within a multi-axis automation rack, this module converts DC-bus energy into regulated motor current and supplies closed-loop control signals, allowing coordinated motion in machine tools, packaging lines, and material-handling cells. It connects to a Rexroth supply-unit backplane and communicates with the central PLC through SERCOS or analog command links. This arrangement allows the controller to regulate the torque and speed of compatible servo or spindle motors while exchanging operating data with the wider control system.
The housing has a protection rating of IP10, which prevents solid objects larger than 50 mm from contacting live parts. Because this rating does not protect the controller against water or smaller objects, the unit must be mounted inside a suitable cabinet. Internal components comply with insulation class C under DIN VDE 0110, providing the required dielectric separation for the controller’s electrical circuits. Acceptable ambient temperatures during normal operation range from +5 to +45 °C, as higher temperatures reduce the available margin for heat dissipation. The controller belongs to Line 02 of the product series. Its modular housing is designed for installation alongside compatible supply and drive modules in a multi-axis rack.
The installation altitude must not exceed 1000 m above sea level during normal operation because thinner air at greater elevations reduces convection across the heat sink. When the surrounding temperature approaches +55 °C, the controller may operate only at a reduced continuous current to limit thermal stress on internal power components. Cabinet ventilation must maintain adequate airflow around the heat sink and prevent heated exhaust air from circulating back through the module. For long-term storage or transportation, the electronics tolerate temperatures from -30 to +85 °C when moisture condensation is prevented. The broad storage range allows an unpowered unit to remain in facilities that experience substantial seasonal temperature changes. Before the controller is energized after cold storage, it should be allowed to reach the cabinet temperature so condensation does not form on electrical surfaces.
