The HDD02.2-W040N is a dual-axis digital servo drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat in the HDD Drive Controllers series. Installed between the machine control and the servo motors, it converts bus commands into regulated phase currents and reads back incremental encoder data to close the velocity and position loops. The device combines two power stages, signal processing, and logic in a single rack-mountable module, making it suitable for packaging, metal-cutting, and material-handling lines. Its dual-channel layout supports compact control cabinets where multiple coordinated axes must operate from a shared drive platform.

Each module governs 2 axes, and at a 4 kHz current loop it supplies a continuous drive current of 15 A per axis. For brief acceleration bursts, the ceiling reaches 40 A per axis, allowing rapid torque changes without drive saturation. Supplying these currents dissipates 110 W per axis inside the unit, so cabinet airflow must remove heat from the module during sustained operation. Position feedback arrives through a sinusoidal 1 Vpp encoder interface that the internal DSP samples for precise commutation and motion control. Heights up to 1000 m above sea level do not require additional derating, and the slim 50 mm housing helps conserve space in dense multi-axis stacks. Storage limits range from -30 °C to 85 °C, which helps protect the unit during transport and long-term storage. Unobstructed airflow over the heat sink and proper encoder grounding help maintain stable thermal conditions and reliable feedback signals during operation.
