It interfaces directly with servo inverters and feedback devices to regulate motor current, velocity, and position in closed-loop operation. By linking motion commands from a central PLC to the power stage that feeds each motor winding, the unit supports precise, synchronized motion in automated machining centers, packaging machines, and material-handling cells.

Motion data reach the controller over the SERCOS fiber-optic bus, allowing deterministic cycle times and simple daisy-chain wiring. When the pulse-width modulation frequency is held at 4 kHz, the device supplies a continuous armature current of 15 A. Switching at 8 kHz lowers the continuous rating to 10 A because of higher switching losses. Short bursts that overcome static friction are handled by a peak current capacity of 40 A. Rated performance is guaranteed up to 45 °C ambient, with derating allowed until 55 °C, and installation is specified for sites situated no higher than 1000 m.
