The HDD02.1-W040N is a dual-axis drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the HDD Drive Controllers series. Designed for medium-power servo loops, it coordinates two motor axes, allowing synchronized positioning and velocity regulation in automated machinery and material-handling lines. By converting commands from a higher-level motion processor into controlled output currents, the unit acts as the intermediary between the control system and the servo motors, maintaining feedback-based accuracy during continuous or cyclic operation.

Internally the controller draws 40 W of signal power from the 24 V auxiliary supply to energize its logic circuits. At a switching frequency of 4 kHz the module delivers a continuous current of 15 A per axis, while at 8 kHz the limit is 10 A per axis; these values let the integrator trade acoustic noise against torque ripple. For short acceleration bursts each channel tolerates 40 A per axis. The drive section rating of 40 A defines the maximum rms output accepted as steady-state, and associated losses reach 95 W per axis, heat that must exit through cabinet airflow. When de-energized the drive may be stored from −30 °C to 85 °C without damage to electrolytic capacitors or circuit boards, giving flexibility for spare-parts logistics and long-term inventory.
