The HCS01.1E-W0018-A-03-B-ET-EC-EP-S4-NN-AW is a Bosch Rexroth drive controller. The controller comes with an advanced control panel that supports hot plug. The control panel has a slot for a microSD memory card. The panel has a single-line display and can be used as programming module. The display on the panel shows operating states, command and error diagnoses and pending warnings. Using the four-button keypad, an engineer or service technician can display diagnoses and trigger simple commands. Memory on the advanced control panel is as follows: 2 megabytes flash memory for data, 16 megabytes flash memory for code and 32 kilobytes FRAM for retain data. The HCS01.1E-W0018-A-03-B-ET-EC-EP-S4-NN-AW cools via forced air cooling. This cooling method relies on a fan or blower to force air across drive components. The minimum permitted ambient temperature is 0 degrees Celsius.

The maximum ambient temperature permitted by Bosch is 40 degrees Celsius. Output of the HCS01.1E-W0018-A-03-B-ET-EC-EP-S4-NN-AW derates i.e. falls below rated values outside this temperature range. Peak current output of the controller is 18 Amps. Bosch Rexroth has designed the unit for connection to three-phase AC mains. The working voltage range is 200 to 500 Volts AC. Protection rating of the drive housing is IP20. This rating makes the controller suitable for indoor use. Outdoor use requires use of a suitable industrial cabinet. The minimum vertical separation specified by Bosch for the drive unit is 90 millimeters. Integrated hardware features on the controller include Multi-Ethernet communication and multi-encoder interface.  HCS controllers are modular and contain slots for hardware modules. A safety module installed on the unit supports safe motion. A separate hardware module installed on the unit is equipped with an engineering port.
