Product Description:
The HCS04.2E-W1540 is a high-capacity power and motion control unit produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the HCS IndraDrive Controllers series. It serves as the central converter between the plant mains and connected induction or servo axes. The unit manages energy flow, braking, and regeneration for large production cells and test stands in industrial automation.
Internal logic and I/O are supplied by a control circuit that accepts 24 V DC, isolating low-level electronics from the high-energy mains. The integrated bus capacitors provide 31.2 mF of storage, allowing the DC link to ride through brief voltage dips and absorb regenerative energy without rapid overvoltage trips. For fault containment, the DC choke withstands a short-circuit current of 50 kA, pairing with upstream protection devices. Despite its power rating, the cabinet assembly weighs 300 kg, so lifting equipment is required during installation. Acoustic output is limited to 75 dB(A) at a one-meter distance, keeping noise within typical plant safety guidelines while the internal blower handles airflow. Under IP23 conditions, the blower moves 2400 m³/h of cooling air, and the volume falls to 660 m³/h when the housing is upgraded to IP54.
Mechanical integration is governed by a 1110 mm width, 1150 mm height, and 380 mm depth, dimensions suited for standard floor-standing enclosures with front access clearances. During emergency stops, the drive can dissipate up to 750 kW of braking energy for ten seconds, while 400 kW can be handled continuously through its resistor circuit. The power section is configured for infeeding and fed operation, so one device can accept mains power and share DC-link energy with other modules. Cable terminations are made on M12 studs, each tightened to 41 Nm, and the air inlet area of 20 dm² must remain unobstructed to maintain the specified airflow.
