Product Description:
The HCS04.2E-W0790-N-04-NNNN is an HCS IndraDrive Controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for multi-axis automation lines that rely on regenerative DC links. Within the HCS IndraDrive Controllers series, it functions as the power section that converts three-phase mains energy into a regulated DC bus and returns excess braking energy to the plant network through an external brake chopper. By coordinating power exchange between an infeeding or fed supply module and individual servo inverters, the unit helps maintain stable bus voltage so connected motors receive consistent torque commands during acceleration, deceleration, and repeated start-stop cycles. This arrangement is suited to systems where several axes share power through a common DC link.
The controller’s logic and I/O circuits run from a control voltage of 24 V DC. Inside the housing, a DC bus capacitor bank rated at 15.6 mF smooths rectified power and absorbs short-term load peaks during changes in axis demand. Heat generated by switching devices is removed by an internal blower that moves 1,200 m3/h of air, and this airflow requires the cabinet to provide at least 10 dm² of inlet and outlet area. The mains terminals accept a cable cross section of 3 × 350 MCM, and the brake terminal can be tightened to 24 Nm for a secure electrical connection. Lateral space is set by the unit width of 585 mm, while the overall assembled mass is 140 kg. The communication interface is not specified here, so any external network connection must be chosen to suit the drive system in use.
The unit has a depth of 380 mm and a height of 950 mm, which allows vertical mounting behind standard control cabinet doors. During rapid stops, the external resistor can absorb up to 375 kW for ten seconds, and it can continuously dissipate 200 kW when the application requires frequent dynamic braking. A mains-to-motor through-connection rated at 41 Nm supports the power path for high-current wiring. The combination of blower cooling, cabinet airflow openings, and DC bus energy storage helps keep internal components within their intended operating temperature range during demanding motion cycles.
