Product Description:
The HCS04.2E-W0640 is a unit in the HCS IndraDrive Controllers series produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. As an HCS drive controller, it serves as the central power and control interface between the plant supply and synchronous or induction servomotors used in automated machining cells, presses, and material-handling lines. The device coordinates power conversion, feedback processing, and protective monitoring so that motion axes receive regulated current, controlled acceleration, and integrated safety functions for industrial automation. This role allows the controller to manage motor response and system protection within a coordinated multi-axis drive environment.
The controller draws only 72 W of control power for its electronics, while the incoming supply is protected by a 600 A branch circuit fuse. During operation, it accepts a rated input current of 418 A and can supply up to 459 A of three-phase output current to connected drive modules. Cooling is provided by an internal blower that requires 1,200 m³/h of airflow in an IP23 installation and 270 m³/h in an IP54 cabinet. This forced-air arrangement supports thermal stability during high-current operation and requires clear airflow paths through the enclosure. At maximum load, the blower and switching stages produce a sound pressure level of 73 dB(A), and the controller is assigned to overvoltage category III with a mains short-circuit withstand level of up to 50 kA.
The chassis measures 585 mm in width, 380 mm in depth, and 950 mm in height, and the unit has a mass of 140 kg. Its cabinet-oriented form supports installation in drive enclosures where front access and ventilation clearance are available. At least 10 dm² of free grille area is required at both the inlet and outlet so the internal blower can move cooling air effectively. The housing is intended for Pollution Degree 2 environments, has a short-circuit current rating of 42,000 A rms, and supports both infeeding and fed power supply operation when used with other IndraDrive components.
