Product Description:
The HCS04.2E-W0350-N-04-NNBN is a drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the HCS IndraDrive Controllers series. As an HCS Drive Controller, it manages the DC bus and regulates motor torque or speed in multi-axis automation lines, coordinating power exchange between infeeding and powered axes through its shared bus configuration.
In normal operation the controller delivers a continuous output of 259 A, drawing 226 A from the three-phase mains when configured for high continuous duty. For dynamic events it tolerates 350 A for 2 seconds and 311 A for 60 seconds, allowing short bursts of acceleration without tripping protective limits. Energy is buffered on a 7.8 mF DC bus capacitor bank, while an internal brake chopper converts excess regenerative energy into heat. Both the internal and external control circuits run on 24 V DC, supplied either from the machine source or from the controller’s own auxiliary converter. The power-supply section is designed for an infeeding / fed configuration so surplus energy from one axis can be redistributed along the common link. Thermal management relies on air forced through an integrated blower, and an optional 550 VA external blower can be connected when the unit is mounted inside sealed cabinets.
The housing measures 782 mm high, 350 mm wide and 380 mm deep and weighs 74 kg, so adequate panel reinforcement is required before installation. The integrated ventilation path moves 600 m³/h of air under IP23 mounting conditions, ensuring the semiconductor stack remains within limits during extended braking sequences. During emergency stops the brake chopper can dissipate up to 165 kW for 10 seconds, while a continuous figure of 85 kW covers repetitive deceleration cycles in indexing or press drives. These thermal and mechanical characteristics complement the electrical ratings outlined above, giving system designers clear margins when sizing fuses, busbars and cabinet airflow.
