The HCS03.1E-W070-A-05-NPBV drive controller is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the HCS IndraDrive Controllers series. This HCS Drive Controller belongs to the HCS03 line, has design version 1, and serves as a feed-in and regenerative power module for multi-axis automation. It converts three-phase mains power into a regulated DC bus and returns regenerative energy to the supply. This functionality supports positioning, speed control, and braking for axes rated from 15 to 75 kW, while an integrated blower provides internal air cooling in standard electrical enclosures.
The power section delivers a continuous phase current of 45 A and tolerates peak current up to 70 A during rapid acceleration. Energy is buffered by a 940 µF capacitor bank. Without a line choke, the DC bus supports 13 kW and the inverter can supply 20 kW to the motor. Adding a line choke increases the available motor output to 40 kW and raises the bus transfer capability to 25 kW. The input mains current is 50 A, providing the power section with sufficient current for its stated operating limits. The enclosure measures 440 mm high, 125 mm wide, and 315 mm deep, allowing installation in common 600 mm electrical cabinets. Air exits through the top of the enclosure, so adequate vertical clearance is required for proper heat removal.
During dynamic stops, the braking resistor channel can dissipate 42 kW, while continuous regenerative power is limited to 13.2 kW to protect thermally sensitive components. The auxiliary electronics consume 22.5 W, reducing the load placed on the external control supply. The logic circuits operate from a stabilized 24 V DC source and draw 0.9 A. This separate logic supply allows fieldbus monitoring to remain active when the mains power section is not energized. Control terminals communicate the HCS03 identity, DC-bus voltage, and power-supply status to an upstream PLC. All connectors remain within the 315 mm enclosure depth, keeping cable routing contained within the cabinet footprint and leaving the upper airflow path unobstructed.
