It combines power electronics, control logic, and network connectivity to command servo and induction axes in automated machinery. Installed inside a control cabinet, the device supplies regulated three-phase output to motors while exchanging real-time status data with higher-level PLCs, which supports closed-loop motion control in assembly lines, packaging systems, and pick-and-place modules.
The controller accepts a mains supply of 3 × AC 200…500 V ±10%, allowing the same hardware to operate on common industrial feeders used in many regions. Its internal bus capacitors and IGBTs can deliver a device peak output of 54 A during acceleration or braking events, so axes with moderate inertia receive sufficient surge current without external boosters. Thermal energy from those switching elements is removed by internal air cooling through an integrated blower, and this closed-circuit method helps keep dust away from the electronics while eliminating the need for external ducting. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so live parts are finger-safe but the unit still requires installation inside an enclosure. A control section of the ADVANCED design type is pre-installed, providing expanded axis functions, deeper diagnostics, and additional parameter memory for demanding motion tasks.
Fieldbus exchange occurs through a SERCOS III master with cross communication port, enabling deterministic transfer of setpoints and actual values between multiple drives without an external switch. Motor position feedback is processed through the primary interface with IndraDyn Hiperface/EnDat 2.1/2.2 encoder support, while legacy or third-party controls can receive simulated signals through the auxiliary channel for encoder emulation. The power stage supports infeeding and fed operation, so it can return regenerative energy to the DC bus or draw energy from it when required. No integrated safety interface is included, so external STO or safe motion modules must be added when required by the machine's risk assessment.
