Compact drive converters are the units in the HCS series of the IndraDrive Cs family by Bosch Rexroth. They are highly versatile products with multi-encoder and protocol support for diverse applications. Their target applications include machine tools, robotics, food processing and packaging machines, and general automation.

The HCS01.1E-W0028-A-03-B-ET-EC-EC-S5-NN-FW is a model of the HCS drive converters designed and manufactured by Bosch Rexroth. Its compatible control sections are those in the BASIC range, and it communicates using a Multi-Ethernet module. As a result, it can be integrated in multiple Ethernet field bus systems such as PROFINET IO, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, and sercos III. This drive converter’s mains connecting voltage is a three-phase AC voltage ranging from 200V to 500V. It also permits a maximum current of 28A and operation at switching frequencies of 4kHz, 8kHz, 12kHz, and 16kHz. Its IP 20 Ingress Protection rating indicates that it is safe from the penetration of external solid materials over 12mm.

Safe Motion is the safety technology option in the HCS01.1E-W0028-A-03-B-ET-EC-EC-S5-NN-FW. The drive converter has two encoder evaluation interfaces for standard encoder types with supply voltage ratings of 5V and 12V. These include the sin-cos encoder with Hiperface (1 Vpp), the MS2N motor encoder, the SSI encoder,  and the MSK motor encoder. Cooling is achieved via natural convection within a control cabinet where the HCS model can be easily installed. Its G1 mounting position prevents the formation of heat pockets which can lead to irreversible damage. It also has a standard control panel that serves as a programming module. The user panel has a single-line display where the operating states, error and command diagnoses, and pending warnings are viewed.
