It converts incoming AC mains into a regulated DC bus and controlled three-phase motor output while processing encoder feedback to close torque, speed, and position loops in automated machinery. By combining the power section, control electronics, and communication hardware in one enclosure, the unit helps save cabinet space and supports synchronized motion in packaging, printing, and material-handling equipment. It is intended for axes that must track commanded motion profiles closely while maintaining stable speed and torque response during changing load conditions. That makes it suitable for machines that coordinate feeders, rollers, or transfer axes from a compact control cabinet.
Communication is handled through a SERCOS III master port that enables deterministic cross-communication between neighboring drives. An internal ADVANCED control section manages interpolation, diagnostics, and safety-related monitoring tasks during operation. Heat from the power stage is removed by an internal air blower, so no external ducting is required. The unit can supply up to 18 A of peak current to a connected axis, and the wiring terminals are protected by an IP20 rating for installation inside a control cabinet. This arrangement helps the controller operate in enclosed panels where airflow is guided through the housing rather than through separate cooling hardware.
The supply side accepts 3 x AC 110–230 V ±10%. The power section is configured for common-bus operation, allowing shared DC-bus use with additional IndraDrive units in multi-axis systems. Functional safety is provided by the integrated STO interface, which removes torque without external contactors. The unit is part of the HCS01 line, and two independent feedback ports support IndraDyn Hiperface and EnDat 2.1/2.2 encoder protocols for motor position data. These feedback connections let the drive read rotor position directly from compatible motors and keep closed-loop motion control aligned with the commanded axis movement. The shared bus arrangement also fits systems that distribute regenerated energy across several connected axes.
