The unit forms the power and control interface between the mains and an IndraDyn synchronous motor, executing speed and position loops in automated handling, packaging, and assembly stations that require coordinated axis motion. Its place in the compact HCS01 line makes it suitable for multi-axis systems where panel space is limited and several drive modules must fit within one cabinet.
The controller communicates over SERCOS III, enabling deterministic real-time exchange with higher-level PLCs. Its control section bears the ECONOMY designation, indicating a streamlined variant that omits diagnostic extensions while still delivering full motion functionality. Internal cooling is handled by internal air cooling through an integrated blower, eliminating the need for external ductwork. The power stage provides a device peak current of 9 A, allowing short acceleration bursts without overheating. Supply compatibility spans 3 x AC 110...230 V ±10%, so the same hardware can operate on a range of low-voltage mains systems. The controller accepts position data through IndraDyn Hiperface/EnDat 2.1/2.2 encoder feedback, supporting high-resolution absolute and incremental signals for precise servo regulation.
The cabinet-mounted housing carries an IP20 ingress rating, so the terminals are finger-safe but the unit still requires installation inside an enclosure. The unit uses common DC link infeed, allowing several axes to share one supply module. The hardware is release 1 of the A-02 design, and Interface 2 remains unpopulated to simplify wiring.
