It converts three-phase mains into regulated outputs and supervises feedback signals so that connected motors follow commanded torque or speed profiles. By embedding communication and safety layers, the unit helps automate axes in packaging, automated assembly, and material-handling equipment without external converters or relays. This compact arrangement places power conversion, signal handling, and protective functions in one cabinet-mounted unit for streamlined machine integration.
Electrically, the power stage tolerates a device peak current of 8 A, allowing short acceleration bursts without derating. The supply terminals accept 3 x AC 200–500 V ±10%, so the same frame can operate from a wide range of industrial mains. Thermal energy is removed by an integrated blower that pulls air through internal channels, and this factory-installed internal air cooling keeps the electronics within temperature limits inside a cabinet. The housing carries an IP20 ingress rating, making finger-safe installation possible when the control panel is closed. For personnel and load protection, dual safety circuits implement STO and SBC, disconnecting torque and managing brake release under monitored conditions.
Motion commands reach the drive over a SERCOS III master link that also enables cross communication between neighboring drives. Feedback is processed through Interface 1, compatible with Encoder IndraDyn Hiperface/EnDat 2.1/2.2, so the controller can evaluate motor position data on a dedicated channel. Interface 2 offers PROFIBUS for PLC or legacy network integration where that network remains in use. Control logic resides on the ADVANCED section pre-paired to this power module, which matches Design Version 1 of the HCS01 line. This layout supports coordinated axis operation while keeping the control and power sections matched within the same drive platform.
