The device functions as a power and control module that converts incoming three-phase supply into regulated motor output while executing motion commands from a higher-level control system. It enables precise speed and position control for compact conveyor axes and pick-and-place tooling where drive currents remain modest. Because it integrates power electronics and signal processing in one housing, it can be mounted directly in control cabinets with minimal wiring.

Its communication layer is based on MultiEthernet, allowing parameterization and real-time data exchange over several Ethernet-based fieldbuses through the same hardware port. The BASIC control section executes motion commands and provides standard interpolation and diagnostics. The power stage delivers a device peak current of 6 A, which is suitable for low-inertia servo motors used on smaller mechanical axes. Acceptable mains input spans 3 x AC 110–230 V ±10%, letting the unit operate on a wide range of utility systems without an autotransformer. DC link energy is managed by a supply stage with infeeding / backfeeding capability, so it can either receive replenishment from or return excess energy to a shared supply module in multi-axis configurations.
