As an HCS drive controller, it regulates current and velocity loops for servo and induction motors used in automated handling, packaging, and processing lines. The unit belongs to the compact HCS01 line and serves as the power section between the mains supply, motor feedback, and higher-level PLCs so a single axis can follow commanded motion accurately. That arrangement supports compact cabinet layouts where power conversion and motion control must be combined in one module.

Feedback handling is provided by two identical encoder ports that accept IndraDyn Hiperface/EnDat signals, enabling redundant or dual-loop configurations. This layout allows the controller to process motor and load-side position feedback within the same axis. The control section is classified as BASIC, and the power section is matched to that design for straightforward integration. The DC bus arrangement supports infeeding and fed operation, so the unit can either supply energy to or draw it from a common bus system.
