It functions as the power and control interface between the facility mains and a synchronous or induction motor, supplying regulated current, executing motion commands, and supporting safe shutdown behavior in automated machinery. In normal operation, the controller works as the central axis device that converts incoming electrical power into controlled motor performance for positioning, conveying, and speed-regulated motion. Its compact format makes it suitable for cabinet installation where drive electronics and machine controls must be grouped in a limited amount of space.
This unit communicates with higher-level PLCs through the MultiEthernet interface and uses a control section classified as BASIC, which supports standard drive functions without add-on feature modules. The HCS01 power stage has a peak output of 5 A, allowing it to energize low-to-medium power axes used in compact machine sections. Its supply terminals accept three-phase input from 3 × AC 200–500 V (±10%), so the same model can operate on both 230 V and 460 V plant grids. The housing has an IP20 rating, so the unit must be installed inside a closed cabinet to prevent accidental contact with live parts. A second feedback slot is not installed, so the configuration is intended for applications that rely on one primary motor feedback channel.
Thermal stability is maintained by internal air blower cooling, which removes heat without external ducting and supports dense cabinet layouts. Rotor position feedback is read through the Encoder IndraDyn Hiperface/EnDat 2.1/2.2 port, supporting both absolute and incremental encoder protocols for closed-loop control. The integrated power supply supports infeeding and fed operation, allowing DC bus energy to be shared between multiple compatible drives on the same system. Machine safety is supported by the dedicated STO (Safe Torque Off) channel, which disables gate signals to the IGBTs and helps prevent unintended motion when the safety circuit is activated.
