The Bosch Rexroth Indramat DMA 85B 8001-D is a servo drive module in the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. It serves as a three-phase control stage for synchronous and asynchronous motors used in automated production cells, pick-and-place gantries, and material-handling lines. When inserted into a Servodyn-D rack, the unit couples the shared DC bus to individual motor leads, supervises phase current, and converts command references from the motion controller into regulated three-phase output for the connected axes. This arrangement lets each axis receive independent current regulation while sharing rack power infrastructure with neighboring modules.
The enclosure measures only 100 mm in width, so multiple modules can be mounted side by side without exceeding a 600 mm cabinet. Internal losses are removed through backplane air cooling, with airflow drawn across the rear of the circuit board instead of using external heat sinks. Velocity or torque commands reach the power stage through a 10-bit analog U/f interface, which provides 1,024 discrete reference steps for motor control. Internally, the unit is arranged as a 3-phase module for synchronous and asynchronous motors. When seated in a drive stack, the surrounding Servodyn-D series backplane distributes the DC bus voltage and synchronizes gate pulses across adjacent modules. The narrow housing also helps maintain compact cabinet layouts where several axes are installed in one rack.
The drive is supplied in the standard variant, so its parameter set and current rating follow the baseline entry for this model. It has no auxiliary functions, so no field-installable braking choppers or I/O expanders occupy the card slots. The front plate has no encoder feedback interface, so position evaluation must be handled by the upstream motion controller. A common earth stud provides grounding, and integrated temperature sensors monitor the module when it is installed with matching supply modules and motor cables. Feedback processing remains outside the module, which keeps the front connection set limited to power and control functions.
