Product Description:

The DMA 140D 9101-D is a three-phase servo drive module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. Intended for synchronous and asynchronous motor axes, it forms part of modular inverter stacks that share a common DC link. By combining power conversion, setpoint processing, and an internal positioning function, the module supplies accurate velocity or position control for automated transfer lines, packaging machines, and similar industrial equipment.

It draws 1.58 A from the 24 V control supply. The non-regulated DC link rises to 715 VDC, while the regulated stage stabilizes at 670 VDC for the inverter bridge. Under open-loop conditions, the module can deliver up to 141 Arms at a 4 kHz switching frequency, while operation at 8 kHz limits that peak to 117 Arms. Thermal management relies on backplane air cooling that dissipates up to 700 W of internal power loss. When ambient temperature climbs above 45 °C, output capability decreases by 2.25 A per kelvin at 4 kHz or 1.75 A per kelvin at 8 kHz. Command values enter through CANopen or CANrho setpoint channels, and motor feedback is connected to STG or MTG encoder interfaces. One-axis positioning logic is included for stand-alone motion sequences.

The drive supplies continuous closed-loop currents of 87 Arms at 4 kHz and 60 Arms at 8 kHz, aligning its current limits with the acoustic and dynamic demands of high-speed machinery. Axis feedback can use the integrated absolute encoder option, which offers a multi-turn resolution of 32 bits, 4096 rev and 20 bits of single-turn detail, allowing fine commutation even on large gear ratios. Mechanical integration is simplified by a module width of 200 mm and a mass of 19.3 kg, so the unit fits standard 19-inch control cabinets without heavy-duty lifting equipment.

Internal Product Review

  • ‘‘The DMA 140D 9101-D is a 3-phase servo drive module for synchronous and asynchronous motors with backplane air cooling. CANopen and CANrho setpoint support aligns well with one-axis positioning for efficient integration in coordinated motion systems. A rated current of 87 Arms at 4 kHz makes the module a strong performer for demanding servo applications.’’
