Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the DMA 085B 4101-D servo drive module as part of the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. This three-phase unit is intended to energize synchronous and asynchronous motors in automated machinery. Integrated with one-axis positioning capability, it functions as the motion regulator for material-handling stations, packaging lines, and other equipment requiring deterministic torque and speed control.

A dedicated 24 V logic rail draws 1.35 A, powering gate drivers and control electronics without overstressing low-voltage supplies. The drive links to the plant controller through a 16-bit analog interface, allowing fine current and velocity resolution while the standard encoder port closes the feedback loop. On its DC bus, the regulated voltage is 670 VDC / 715 VDC, giving headroom for drives installed on common rectifier sections. At a 4 kHz carrier frequency, the continuous closed-loop capacity is 47 Arms, while short-term overload reaches 86 Arms. At 8 kHz, those values drop to 31 Arms and 63 Arms. The RMB/DM backplane module distributes this energy and also supports air cooling through the cabinet plenum. Two internal fans are mounted behind the heat sink to maintain airflow across the power stages.

During elevated ambient operation, the unit derates by 1.25 A/K between 45 °C and 55 °C, which helps size cabinet ventilation. The housing spans 100 mm in width and weighs 11.5 kg, so cabinet rail loading and spacing can be planned accurately. At full load, its internal losses reach 380 W, and that heat is removed by the internal fans and the backplane air stream. Air cooling on the backplane side keeps peripheral wiring unobstructed, and the module’s three-phase output remains compatible with synchronous and asynchronous motors already present in the DMA system.
