Product Description:

The DMA 04A 1101-D servo drive module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. It is a three-phase unit for synchronous and asynchronous motors and is installed in modular servo racks where it converts DC bus energy into controlled AC waveforms. The module works with a controller card to regulate speed and torque for axes in packaging machines, printing presses, and material-handling systems. In operation, the power stage modulates current sent to the motor windings so commanded acceleration, holding torque, and speed changes can be followed with stable control behavior.

Its cooling method is backplane air cooling, which vents heat toward the rear of the rack so the cabinet airflow can carry it away. The housing occupies 50 mm of rack width, allowing multiple axes to be mounted closely while leaving room for wiring. Motion commands and diagnostics are transmitted over the SERCOS interface, a fiber-optic ring used for synchronized communication between the rack modules and the higher-level control system. Motor position feedback is accepted through the integrated standard interface, which supports common RS-422 incremental and 1 Vpp sinusoidal encoder formats. Using the native feedback connection reduces the need for external signal converters when standard encoder types are used in the machine.

The drive is part of the Servodyn-D series and is supplied as the standard variant. The module is intended to occupy its slot in a multi-axis rack rather than operate as a stand-alone drive. No additional onboard functions are included, so related features must be provided by other system modules when required. This arrangement keeps the module focused on power conversion, communication, and closed-loop motor control within the rack structure.

Internal Product Review

  • ‘‘The DMA 04A 1101-D is a 3-phase servo drive module for synchronous and asynchronous motors in the Servodyn-D series. Standard encoder interfacing and SERCOS communication give the module solid compatibility in coordinated motion applications. Backplane air cooling is a practical advantage for consistent thermal control.’’
