The DMA 045A 8001-D is a servo drive module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. Intended as a three-phase power stage for synchronous and asynchronous motors, it forms part of multi-axis racks where speed and torque are regulated from a central controller. Within an automation cell, the module supplies controlled current to the motor windings and reports status to higher-level motion logic.

In operation, the drive uses the U/f characteristic control mode, so motor voltage follows frequency to maintain magnetizing flux without closed-loop encoder feedback; consequently, the encoder interface is absent and no additional functions are fitted. At a 4 kHz switching frequency, the module delivers a continuous 23 Arms and can surge to 51 Arms, while at 8 kHz the continuous capability drops to 15 Arms with a peak of 44 Arms. These reductions reflect switching losses, and the drive is linearly derated between 45 °C and 55 °C by 0.65 A/K at 4 kHz or 0.45 A/K at 8 kHz. Command values enter through an internal backplane bus with a 10 bits setpoint resolution, which is adequate for coarse velocity or torque trims. Cooling air is drawn across the heat sink from the rear of the cabinet to remove transistor heat.

Panel layout is simplified by the 50 mm module width, allowing dense stacking of axes on a shared backplane while still preserving airflow. Control electronics draw 1.32 A from the 24 VDC auxiliary bus, which is relevant for cabinet power budgeting. The housing carries an IP20 degree of protection, matching the 3K3 climatic category for clean, dry switchgear rooms up to 55 °C. Mechanical durability is verified by a shock resistance of 15 g, making the unit suitable for machinery exposed to rapid indexing or tooling impacts. When ambient temperatures exceed the 45 °C threshold, the published derating coefficients must be used to keep semiconductor junctions within safe limits.
