Product Description:

The DMA 045A 5311-D servo drive module is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and included in the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. As a three-phase module for synchronous and asynchronous motors, it sits on a common DC bus and actuates the connected phases according to motion commands. Integrated positioning control enables precise axis moves, so the unit is used in packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and similar automated stations where compact, rack-mounted drives are preferred.

At a 4 kHz switching frequency, the drive can deliver a continuous phase current of 23 Arms, while at 8 kHz the continuous limit is 15 Arms. These values set the thermal operating range for closed-loop operation with forced ventilation inside the cabinet. For brief overloads, the current ceiling rises to 51 Arms at 4 kHz and 44 Arms at 8 kHz, providing the reserve needed for acceleration or disturbance rejection. The shared DC bus is supplied through a non-regulated link of 715 VDC that is regulated to 670 VDC by the power section. Control electronics draw only 1.32 A from the 24 V service supply, and command inputs are accepted as 24 V control signals through the setpoint interface. A resolver channel feeds real-time rotor position back to the module, completing the current and velocity loops.

Thermal management relies on air drawn across the backplane, and a maximum internal dissipation of 220 W must be removed to keep component temperatures within the allowed range. When the ambient temperature inside the enclosure rises above 45 °C, output capability drops by 0.65 A per kelvin at 4 kHz and by 0.45 A per kelvin at 8 kHz, so adequate airflow is required. Despite its power density, the module occupies only 50 mm of rack width and weighs 7.3 kg, making it easy to integrate beside other standard-variant units within a compact multi-axis cabinet.
