Product Description:

The DMA 045A 1101-D is a servo drive module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and supplied in the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. As a three-phase unit for synchronous and asynchronous motors, it converts common DC bus power into controlled motor currents so a single axis can be positioned precisely in an automated line. Integrated SERCOS communication allows the module to link with higher-level motion controllers, while its air-cooled backplane design lets it slide directly into a multi-axis rack without external heat sinks.

The internal DC link is maintained at 670 VDC when the upstream supply is regulated and can rise to 715 VDC on an unregulated bus, giving the power stage a wide operating range. Under open-loop conditions, the drive can deliver up to 51 Arms with a 4 kHz pulse frequency or 44 Arms when the switching frequency is raised to 8 kHz. This supports high torque during rapid acceleration. Thermal buildup from these currents is limited to a maximum power loss of 220 W. Two internal fans pull air across the rear heat sinks, current is derated by 0.65 A/K at 4 kHz and 0.45 A/K at 8 kHz as ambient temperature rises, and a separate 24 V supply draws 1.32 A to feed logic, gate drives, and the fan motors even when the main DC link is off.

Continuous operation is governed by rated currents of 23 Arms at the lower pulse frequency and 15 Arms at the higher pulse frequency, which supports steady-state loads without exceeding thermal limits. If cabinet temperature rises above the intended range, the drive automatically reduces available current to protect the power stage. Position feedback is handled through a standard encoder interface that supports 32-bit multiturn motor feedback resolution across 4096 revolutions, while the internal current loop uses a 20-bit stage resolution for fine torque steps. One-axis positioning is executed over the SERCOS setpoint channel, and the 50 mm-wide module fits high-density racks where multiple drives share a common bus.

Internal Product Review

  • ‘‘The DMA 045A 1101-D is a 3-phase servo drive module for synchronous and asynchronous motors with a SERCOS setpoint interface. Backplane air cooling and one-axis positioning support make the module a very capable choice for precise, efficient motion control. Peak output up to 51 Arms at 4 kHz stands out as a strong performance advantage.’’
