Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the DMA 008A 1301-D servo drive module as part of the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. Intended for panel-mounted motion systems, this 3-phase module powers synchronous and asynchronous motors and exchanges speed and torque commands over a SERCOS fiber ring. Within an automation cell, it supplies regulated DC energy, monitors feedback devices, and serves as the axis amplifier between the mains rectifier section and the motor windings. It incorporates a standard encoder interface for incremental or resolver feedback, enabling closed-loop positioning in packaging machines, conveyors, and material-handling equipment.

During operation, the current controller produces a continuous phase current of 3.3 Arms at the factory switching frequency of 8 kHz. Transient demands such as acceleration or load impact are covered by a ceiling of 9.6 Arms, allowing brief overload without tripping the drive. The internal DC bus is stabilized at 670 VDC; when the mains section is unregulated, the bus can rise to 715 VDC. These voltage levels set the upper range of motor power transfer while preserving margin for regeneration. High-speed communication takes place through the SERCOS setpoint port, and a 12-bit resolver channel supplies fine angle data to the current loops for smooth torque production.

Worst-case conduction and switching losses amount to 97.7 W, and this heat is expelled by backplane air cooling linked to the RMA/DM 8 base plate. The housing measures 50 mm in width and 521 mm in height, so neighboring modules can be positioned with minimal spacing on a standard rail. The unit has a mass of 7.3 kg, which supports stable mounting inside the cabinet. Its 24 V control electronics draw only 1.14 A, which reduces the load on auxiliary power supplies.
