The DMA 008A 1101-D is a servo drive module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DMA Servo Drive Modules series. The unit functions as a 3-phase power stage for synchronous or asynchronous motors, converting the intermediate DC supply into controlled stator currents while monitoring feedback devices. Installed on a common backplane, it supports individual axis positioning and serves as an integral component in industrial automation cells that require precise motor acceleration, braking, and holding torque management.

At the power interface, the module shares a DC link maintained at 670 VDC / 715 VDC. When the carrier frequency is set to 8 kHz, continuous operation is limited to 3.3 Arms, while transient demands can reach 9.6 Arms to start heavy loads. Above 45 °C, the available current decreases by 0.08 A/K, so cabinet ventilation must be verified for warm environments. Logic circuits draw only 1.14 A from the separate 24 V supply, minimizing battery-backed control power. Thermal energy is removed through air drawn across the backplane, and the drive slides into an RMA/DM 8 slot that carries the DC bus and control lines. A standard encoder interface accepts either resolver or digital feedback, enabling one-axis positioning without extra boards.

Within the enclosure, the drive contributes a maximum heat load of 97.7 W, which is useful when calculating cabinet airflow. Its slim housing is only 50 mm wide and weighs 7.3 kg, allowing dense stacking of multiple axes on a single rail. Position feedback resolution can reach 32 bits, 4096 rev in multi-turn mode, complemented by 20-bit single-turn data and 12-bit resolver signals for applications that demand fine incremental moves. This feedback range supports precise interpolation by the internal motion controller during fine positioning moves.
