It is intended for use with MDD synchronous servo motors and provides regulated current loops so industrial axes achieve commanded torque and velocity in automated assembly cells, printing presses, and packaging machinery. Acting as the link between a three-phase supply and the motor windings, the drive combines resolver feedback processing, dynamic braking through an internal bleeder resistor, and parameter memory to maintain stable operation under variable mechanical loads.
The power stage delivers a continuous phase current of 50 A, enabling sustained torque production without thermal derating. Energy is drawn from a DC bus held at 300 V DC, which is created by the internal rectifier connected to the mains input of 3x 230 V AC. Current to the motor is modulated at a carrier frequency of 4 kHz, balancing motor acoustic noise with drive efficiency. Excess kinetic energy is dissipated by a bleeder circuit that can momentarily absorb up to 18 kW, preventing overvoltage events during rapid deceleration. When the bleeder is inactive, overall thermal loss inside the housing peaks at 480 W, which is used for cabinet ventilation calculations.
The drive can deliver a rated output current of 100 A for short intervals, supporting acceleration bursts required in indexing or positioning tasks. Installation is permitted up to 1000 m above sea level without output reduction, and humidity is limited to DIN 40040 Class F to avoid condensation on live parts. Ambient temperature may reach 45 °C during continuous duty, and the drive remains functional up to 55 °C with proportional current derating. Storage temperatures from -30 °C to 85 °C are permitted when the unit is not in operation. The housing has an IP10 rating, so the drive must be mounted inside an electrical cabinet with adequate airflow for heat dissipation.
