In automated conveyors, pick-and-place cells, or feed systems, it closes the velocity and position loop, issuing real-time corrections through its internal controller while gathering feedback from external square-wave measurement channels.
The drive accepts a three-phase mains supply of 3 x 230 V AC and rectifies it to a shared intermediate circuit held at 300 V DC. Under continuous duty, the power stage can deliver 50 A of motor current, generated by an IGBT bridge that switches at a carrier of 4 kHz to limit ripple torque. Command data, diagnostics, and parameter sets are exchanged over the integrated RS-232/RS-485 port, while 15 input and 16 output lines accommodate local limit switches, actuators, and status lamps. Resolver feedback establishes absolute rotor position, and the square-wave interface permits secondary tachometer signals when higher speed accuracy is required. Heat is led away through a passive dissipation plate, so cabinet airflow remains the primary cooling path.
Energy returned during deceleration is routed to an internal bleeder that withstands peaks of 18 kW and sustains 0.5 kW continuously to protect the DC bus. The inverter supports machine loads up to 11 kVA before reaching its thermal limit, and nominal operation adds 480 W of power loss that must be removed by cabinet ventilation.
