It interfaces with the DSF feedback channel of MDD synchronous motors, providing closed-loop speed and position control for automated assembly lines, pick-and-place axes, and material-handling stages. By converting three-phase input power into a regulated DC link and pulse-width-modulated output, the unit supplies the current and voltage needed to maintain accurate motor response during changing loads. This arrangement helps the axis stay stable during acceleration, deceleration, and repeated positioning moves.
The drive accepts a three-phase supply of 3× 230 V ±10% at 50–60 Hz and rectifies it to an internal bus of 300 V for energy storage. A rated phase output of 50 A is available for transient motion, while continuous regulation is maintained at 25 A for sustained operation. Modulation runs at 4 kHz, balancing switching losses with current ripple in the power stage. Protection against accidental contact is provided by the IP10 housing, and heat is removed by passive dissipation rather than forced airflow. Because cooling does not rely on fans, heat must leave the housing through normal cabinet ventilation and surrounding air movement. For regenerative energy, the integrated bleeder dissipates 0.35 kW continuously and withstands peaks of 9.4 kW, limiting DC-link voltage rise during rapid deceleration. Overall device power loss, excluding the bleeder, is 305 W, which helps determine cabinet heat load during operation. The converter can demand up to 9.5 kVA from the mains during worst-case acceleration, so the supply must accommodate short periods of higher input demand. This is useful on axes that brake hard, reverse often, or cycle quickly between load states.
