In industrial automation, it modulates power from a fixed mains source so a servo motor receives precisely timed voltage and current pulses for speed, torque, and position control. Digital Servo Feedback from the motor returns position data to the drive, allowing the internal control loop to correct motion errors in real time and maintain commanded movement. Because the drive performs current regulation and feedback evaluation in the same unit, it supports accurate axis behavior without requiring separate external electronics for basic motor commutation.
The drive is supplied from a three-phase mains line at 230 V AC (±10%) and accepts source frequencies between 50–60 Hz. During operation, it can deliver a continuous output of 30 A, and the internal DC bus is regulated at 300 V to feed the inverter stage that switches at a carrier frequency of 18 kHz. A bleeder resistor mounted on the same heat sink dissipates 0.3 kW continuously and up to 5 kW for short peaks, so regenerated energy is absorbed before the DC bus rises too high. Heat generated by the power electronics is removed through passive heat dissipation, which eliminates the need for separate fan hardware in many cabinet layouts. This power conversion path lets the controller shape motor phase currents smoothly across changing load conditions. DSF feedback enters through a dedicated connector so that commutation, velocity calculation, and protective monitoring can run continuously during axis operation.
The permitted ambient temperature is +45 °C, and output current derating begins only when the surrounding air reaches +55 °C. The drive can start at +5 °C and may be stored between −30 °C and +85 °C without damage to internal components. Installations up to 1000 m above sea level do not require output reduction, and its reduced noise emission supports use near staffed work areas. The enclosure has a protection rating of IP10, so the unit must be mounted inside a closed control cabinet to limit exposure to dust and accidental contact. Cabinet installation also helps maintain a cleaner operating environment around the open housing and exposed power connections.
