Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the DKR04.1-W400N-BE34-02-FW, a digital intelligent AC drive controller in the DKR Drive Controllers series. The unit converts three-phase mains power into regulated motor voltage and current for large servo axes in industrial automation. It coordinates torque, speed, and position control so connected motors can follow demanding motion profiles on heavy-duty equipment. This operating role makes it suitable for applications where accurate motion and high power capacity are required at the same time.
At a switching frequency of 4 kHz, the drive supplies a continuous current of 210 A, which is the steady-state limit for thermal loading of connected motors. Under the same conditions, it delivers 93 kW of continuous mechanical power for high-inertia loads such as gantry axes. The power stage accepts mains of 3xAC 400–480 V ±10%, so no transformer is required for standard use on that supply range. Short acceleration bursts can draw up to 282 A, giving the axis additional current for dynamic moves. The control electronics use a separate AC 230 V ±10% feed to isolate the logic supply from bus disturbances. The controller has a current rating of 400, belongs to Line 04, is Version 1, and supports dual-channel digital servo and resolver feedback.
Total power losses reach 2500 W, and these are removed by a built-in air blower that forces cooling air through the internal heat sinks. With a mass of 150 kg, the controller requires secure fixed mounting because of its size and weight. Command and diagnostic data flow through the SERCOS interface, enabling real-time coordination with multi-axis masters. The rigid DC bus is supplied without a brake chopper, so regenerated energy must be returned to the shared supply. This arrangement keeps braking energy management external to the controller rather than dissipating it inside the unit.
