Communication setup is performed over the built-in fiber ring. The configuration switch set to S22 sets the internal station address, allowing deterministic telegram timing on shared media. Data transfer along the optical bus runs at a fixed factory baud rate of 2 Mbit/s, which matches standard SERCOS phase-2 cycles and removes the need for manual bitrate adjustment. Optical transmission begins at port X220, where the unit delivers an output of −4.5 dBm. This level supports reliable detection at downstream drives without oversaturating short cable runs. For glass-core duplex cabling, the permissible reach extends to 500 m, so cabinets can be located far from the motion axis while maintaining noise-immune communication. If telegram synchronization fails, the front-panel STATUS LED switches to a fixed ERROR state for immediate visual indication.
