The DKC21.3-LK-DIO01 is an I/O expansion card produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for its DKC Drive Controllers series and used inside EcoDrive systems. The card interfaces the drive with external sensors, switches, and relays so axis motions can be started, stopped, or supervised directly from a PLC without separate wiring hubs. Within an automated production line, it converts machine-level discrete signals into the logic states required by the internal control electronics of the drive, providing a compact means of field integration. Because it mounts inside the controller, the module keeps signal handling close to the axis hardware and reduces the need for separate external I/O assemblies. It is suited to applications that need simple discrete control at the axis instead of a separate remote I/O station.

The module offers 16 optically isolated digital inputs and 12 push-pull digital outputs, giving the card a balanced channel count for axis start and stop commands, overtravel switches, and status lamps. Each input is treated as logic high between 16 and 30 V, while voltages under 3 V are interpreted as low; the ±5% tolerance around an input impedance of 13.3 kΩ keeps current draw predictable on sensor circuits. Output drivers can source up to 80 mA per channel, which is suitable for small solenoids or LED indicators. Fast signal edges are supported by a maximum rise or fall time of 600 ns, allowing the drive to react to rapid trigger sequences in indexing and pick-and-place equipment. The optically isolated inputs also help separate field-side switching signals from the more sensitive electronics inside the drive.

Physical connectivity is provided through a 37-pin male connector with a D-SUB layout, so standard ribbon or shielded cables can be used without proprietary housings. When abnormal load conditions appear, the card limits each output to 300 mA by shutting down the driver stage, which helps prevent overheating during wiring faults. The declared high-level ceiling of 30 V on the output side allows the same 24 V plant supply to operate feedback lamps while leaving margin for brief transients. This arrangement supports direct wiring to common machine devices such as limit switches, relay inputs, and indicator lights. The connector format also fits conventional cabinet wiring practices used around servo-controlled equipment.
